About me. . .
I am a ceramic artist, a historian and a teacher. I am deeply interested in how people create meaning and beauty within their environment. And I find the grounding nature of clay beautiful and meditative.
Ceramic vessels have allowed humans in almost every society and at every time the ability to transport water, to cook food, and to express themselves. Ceramic production has also been a tool for industrial capitalism to exploit and appropriate ancient traditions for commercial gain. As I explore this rich, messy, and fascinating history, I am drawn to ancient forms from the natural and the human worlds, and I seek to make them new.
Grateful to have been able to my work in the midst of a pandemic. From a Trunk Show at Raintree Jewelry in Burlington, VT to FAD Market in Brooklyn to the In Plain Sight public art exhibition in Greenwich village.
